Eye makeup is one area that is definitely NOT a “one look fits all.” We’re all different, so it makes sense that we each need a look that compliments and enhances the beauty of our eyes.
Here some classic tips for getting your eye shape to work for you.
For eyes that are close together, think Kristen Bell. Go for a winged eye effect with both your shadow and your eyeliner. You want to extend the light colored shadow up and out beyond the eyes.
Use a deeper shadow in your crease and extend it out to the wing so that it opens up your eyes.
If you have wide eyes like Kate Moss, you can do most anything except for the winged look. It will make your eyes look too far apart. Instead, line your eyes and make the line thick on the top.
You can also line the bottom of your eyes as well so that both lines meet on the outer and inner corners of your eyes. This will make them look closer together.
For eyes that are small or deep set like Sarah Jessica Parker, avoid dark shadow on the eyelid and in the crease. You don’t want to create more depth. Apply a lighter eye shadow just below the eyes to help bring them out more.
And if you have gorgeous almond-shape eyes like Olivia Wilde, well, you’re one lucky woman! Wear liner to emphasize those beautiful peepers. Add a medium shade all over the lid from lash line to brow bone. Use a darker color to blend in the crease. (Sigh!)
Finally, if you wear glasses, make sure you use corrector and concealer under your eyes. Glasses can highlight under eye discoloration, so you want to correct for that. If you wear stronger frames, you can get away with stronger makeup.
If you wear more delicate frames, go for softer makeup. And be sure to define your brows! You don’t want your glasses overpowering your face!
