  • Although the skin has defence mechanisms to protect itself from the sun, these alone are not enough.
  • Wearing sunscreen is therefore essential, especially in summer, when we are more exposed to solar radiation, and it is at its most harmful due to its perpendicular position to the Earth.
  • Wearing a broad spectrum sunscreen increases our skin protection against UVA, UVB, IR-A and HEVL (blue light) by reducing free radicals from forming and causing photoageing.

THE EXPOSOME

The use of environmentally friendly products that avoid controversial ingredients; products that are not only more effective, but also safer and more ecological.

Two thirds of our planet is covered by oceans, and we often forget how the ingredients used in our sunscreens impact the marine ecosystem.

There is a clear trend towards sunscreens that protect our seas and oceans by using biodegradable ingredients, without microplastics, silicones, nanoparticles or filters that are harmful to coral.

High percentage of biodegradable ingredients:

  1. Silicone free, as these substances have a high bioaccumulative profile in the marine environment, and reducing their content is key.
  2. Microplastics have been replaced by natural biodegradable silica.
  3. By including natural ingredients with an SPF-enhancing action, the amount of filters added to the formulas have been reduced, limiting their potential impact on the environment without compromising on protection.
  4. Nano physical filters (TiO2 and ZnO) have been replaced by non-nano TiO2.
  5. No oxybenzone or octyl methoxycinnamate, the two filters banned by Hawaii’s pioneering law on suspicion of potentially contributing to coral bleaching – in other words, negatively affecting the marine ecosystem.
  6. Water-resistant formulas, limiting the migration of product ingredients from the skin into the sea.

  1. Ginger Root Oil: Highly recommended when formulating cosmetic products designed to protect the integrity of the skin, as well as for treating irritated or sensitive skin. Slows down skin ageing. Calms redness. Energising and invigorating. Reduces burning sensations.
  2. Beta-Glucans: Antioxidant-rich polysaccharides with moisturising and plumping properties. Photoprotective action and highly hydrating and soothing.
  3. Titanium Dioxide: Helps protect the skin from UV rays. Canadian Willowherb Extract: Contains bioactive molecules with antioxidant and anti-irritant properties, which reduce skin redness caused by excessive sun exposure.
  4. 100% Natural Concentrated Ginger Root Extract: Increases the skin’s natural ability to repair itself. Evens the skin tone. Reduces wrinkles and fine lines. Prevents dark spots caused by blue light. Protects against pollution.
  5. Sunflower Seed Extract: Rich in Omega 6 and Vitamin E, it is an excellent skin-repairing agent with nourishing and soothing properties. Mica: Mineral used in cosmetics to provide radiance thanks to its iridescent particles.
  6. Panthenol: Also called Provitamin B5, it keeps the skin in good condition by improving hydration and promoting its repair.
  7. Skinbiome Repair: Based on the microbiome, this complex is a synergistic combination of probiotics and prebiotics that rebalances the bacterial flora and activates the skin’s natural defences. Strengthens regeneration and reduces signs of ageing. Restores the natural balance by nurturing the ecosystem that protects and strengthens the dermis’ immune system. Promotes hydration and firmness.
  8. Vitamin E: Anti-free radical agent better known as Tocopherol. This antioxidant helps the skin prevent the signs of premature ageing and has a soothing and repairing action.
