What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is sometimes called the “lunch time peel”. It is a non-invasive process of abrading layers of dead and damaged skin cells. On completion of this accelerated abrading process, your skin will be left smoother, brighter, firmer and with a course of procedures problem free.
Nest Skin, Body & Wellbeing, your beauty salon in Taringa, uses Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion
Our revolutionary Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion treatment resurfaces and exfoliates while stimulating the production of new skin cells as well as collagen. This crystal-free (no nasty particulates scratching your skin or even stay lodged in the skin after the procedure, or, being inhaled) resurfacing technique is dramatically effective when combined with a treatment like: Skin Peels, GlycoCure AHAs, ‘Better Than Botox’ Facial or our exclusive Soli-Tone 2500 PhotoBioStimulation treatment or Soli-Tone 2500 Sonophoresis treatment.
In addition to gently polishing and gently resurfacing, Diamond Tip Microdermabrasion is a thorough way to treat rough, course skin that often appears on upper arms and shoulders called Keratosis pilares. This inexpensive, adjunctive therapy allows you to experience crystal free resurfacing to help alleviate fine lines, sun damage, and uneven skin texture, leaving your skin with a smooth, clean healthy glow. It can also help mild to moderate acne skin conditions by opening up the pores and allowing them to breathe.

How does it work?
A vacuum suction combined with the appropriate diamond tip results in a very gentle exfoliation of the skin, removing dead surface cells and clearing the pores of debris. Over time and treatments, pigment fades away and surface irregularities, such as fine wrinkles and acne scars, begin to soften.
What can I expect?
Treatment of the whole face takes about 45 minutes. This procedure is hygienic, painless and safe. Remember it is not a facial, but a treatment designed to get results. The abrading of your skin has a slight scratchy feeling and depending on the strength of the treatment, you may experience slight redness which subsides 2 – 24 hours after your treatment.
When you come in for a Diamond Microdermabrasion, we will examine your face to make sure that you don’t have any broken skin or any other contraindications. We will cleanse your face thoroughly and prep your face with a degreasing solution, which will allow the Diamond Microdermabrasion to work more effectively in removing the dead cells. The Diamond Microdermabrasion procedure will be performed with intensity that best suit your skin and you will be informed. After the procedure, we will apply a facial mask to relax, hydrate or deep cleanse your skin. You will leave NEST Skin, Body & Wellbeing looking and feeling refreshed, and you will immediately feel the difference!
For smooth skin a little microdermabrasion goes a long way. Sloughing off the uppermost layer of the skin reveals a fresher, younger-looking face. Regular microdermabrasion sessions are perfect for keeping superficial lines and blemishes to a minimum.
Can I go back to work and put on makeup after the procedure?
Absolutely. The Diamond Microdermabrasion will leave you with smooth, clean skin. Your face may be a bit flushed but you can definitely put on makeup, ideally mineral makeup, and go back to work.
What if I am using Retin-A or Retinol?
The Diamond Microdermabrasion is excellent for people using any type of Vitamin A derivative which promotes cell turnover. For patients using Retin-A or Retinol products, we recommend a treatment every 3-4 weeks.
How often should I have a Diamond Microdermabrasion?
For the best maintenance, you should have a Diamond Microdermabrasion every 4-6 weeks.
Can I have a Diamond Microdermabrasion and another procedure at the same time?
Absolutely. The Diamond Microdermabrasion is a great procedure to have before getting a facial – it will help products penetrate better. It is also great procedure to have before getting a photobiostimulation treatment or many of our other facial treatments.
How do I care for my skin after Diamond Microdermabrasion?
Diamond microdermabrasion increases microcirculation, bringing nutrients to the skin and improving the appearance of all imperfections. For the first 5 days after your treatment, we ask that you do not use your regular moisturiser, as this will allow your skin to exfoliate to its optimum potential. It is best to use a cosmeceutical range such as Skinceuticals, these products work in the dermal level to change the condition of your skin.
The basic principle is:
PREVENT any further damage with pure Vitamin C & Vitamin A (Retinol) products.
CORRECT the existing damage with a corrector skincare product especially one containing AHAs.
PROTECT the skin from any further sun damage with a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sun protection (SPF) product.
You will be given information on our scientifically backed products.
Are there any precautions I must take while undergoing these treatments?
It is recommended that you refrain from any other invasive procedures if you are having deeper diamond microdermabrasion treatments unless advised. Waxing is not recommended 2 days prior to and at least 7 days after your treatment. The use of sun beds or sun tanning is strongly advised against and swimming in heavily chlorinated water should be avoided depending on the strength of your treatment for 2 – 5 days after your treatment has been performed. If you are having botox, any other injectable or facial tattooing, allow 21 days after the procedure. If you are using Vitamin A (Retinol) you may resume use 10 days after treatment.
